Child poverty and social exclusion

We have a range of projects relating to child poverty and social exclusion, with a particular interest in how children's, young people's, and parents' perspectives are included in how these issues are conceptualised, measured, and addressed. Led by Gill Main, projects include 'Fair Shares and Families', which investigated children's active roles in how families share their resources; and 'A Different Take', which sought to promote the perspectives of 'experts by experience' by providing a platform for children and young people with lived experience of poverty to share their experiences and ideas with policy makers and practitioners. As part of this programme of research we work closely with partners including The Children's Society, the Child Poverty Action Group, and Leeds City Council.
