This presentation explores the academic trajectories of Indigenous students and professionals in Chile’s STEM fields, drawing on two qualitative studies. The first, recently published, focused on life histories of Indigenous STEM undergraduates; the current project expands this work through a longitudinal qualitative study with Indigenous engineering students and professionals. I analyze how participants navigate tensions and convergences between academic and Indigenous knowledge systems over time. Findings point to culturally coexistent learning paths shaped by family, rural schooling, and evolving professional identities. I will also share insights from expert consultations at the OECD Global Science Forum, where this research has informed broader equity debates in global science and higher education.
