Living Gender in Diverse Times
Dr. Sharon Elley and Dr. Kim Allen are both involved in ‘Living Gender in Diverse Times’ (2017-21), an ESRC-funded interdisciplinary research project investigating 16-24 year olds views and experiences of gender and intersectionality. It includes understanding young people’s gendered practices and identities with regards to class, race, age and other social identities in families; intimate relationships; peer groups; leisure spaces; formal spaces of school and employment; and social media spaces. The project includes the views of 180-260 young people from different demographic groups across the UK. Outcomes will be used to inform policy-makers, influence policy and practice, equality, inclusion and diversity organisations, and youth groups/practitioners operating in schools, colleges, universities, youth centres and workplaces.
